NC State Health Plan
The North Carolina (NC) State Health Plan is now covering Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for its members diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The following criteria must be met to qualify for covered ABA therapy.
- The member is younger than 26 years of age
- The member is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder by a licensed physician (MD or DO) or a licensed doctoral-level clinical psychologist (PsyD or PhD) utilizing results from a face-to-face clinically recognized evaluation tool.
- Treatment plan is reviewed and determined to be medically necessary by Value Options
- Services are provided by a BCBSNC in-network provider who has ABA therapy within their scope of practice.
*Coverage is limited to a maximum of $36,000 per benefit year per eligible member. Also, coverage is subject to the member's copayment, deductible and coinsurance.
